On the 1st November, at the celebration of the Samhain, we enter a period of time known as ‘the mid-winter. During this time we enter the darker part of the year. This annual transition is when the veils betwen the two realms are thinner. We transition through this period until 1st February, when the celebration of the IMBOLC welcomes the lighter part of the year.
It is a time when we are given the opportunity to face the darkness which surrounds us. it is a time when we can become empowered and face the darkness within us.
Working in the dark
One of the challenges of working in the dark is the inability to see. Often, we trust our sight before our senses. In a world where seeing is believing, many of us find this transition through the mid-winter a challenging time.
However, it can be one of the times when we learn more about ourselves than we ever knew before. If we are willing to see, the self.
The self is dominantly mirrored in others during this time. It can be a time of confusion or clarity depending on our individual journey. A time when we meet so many likeminded people. We can even be deceived into believing we have found our tribe.
What we have uncovered is the deeper wounds within. The constant open wound seeking healing. Vibrating through its open call it automatically attracts its own vibration.
It seeks healing. But it finds all that needs to be healed.
It searches for inner connection but finds itself consistently around others, searching for an external validation.
During this time, when we are still and quiet. When all is silent, we can hear the self-speak. The part of us which knows all healing begins within.
During the Christmas period, it can be difficult not to fall into the chaotic atmosphere. It can also be the most challenging time to be still. Yet the most rewarding.
How was your transition this mid-winter? Did you feel the shifts? Did you notice the repeating patterns? Were you grateful for its teaching?
What does this conflict teach us?
It teaches us that everyone is our teacher. Everyone is our mirror.
I am you. You are me.
It helps us to understand our energy environment. That we pick up all kinds of dark and intrusive energy. It is not something we can avoid, but it is something which we can clear.
The darkness in you is the mirror of the darkness in me. To avoid those, we see as filled with dark, would be to turn our back on the light. To welcome those we see as the light, would be to absorb the dark.
In this space there is no separation. Dark and light. Day and night. Ying and yang.
All are one and the same. Equal.
