Using Mana movement during our workshops helps to support the search for resistance within the body, the mind, the emotions, during meditative practices.
When developing practices to support practical workshops it was imperative that I did not use methods of trauma informed practices. This was due to the wealth of clients I worked alongside who were completely unaware of energetical blockages caused by stored trauma.
Without an awareness of trauma, the participants had no insight into the possible benefits of using trauma informed practices throughout the duration of the workshop.
It also suggested the workshops were for people who had suffered trauma and wanted to heal.
Whilst our workshops are open and inclusive for all, the consistent influx of clients that we meet throughout this work are often those who have been raised within an environment where abusive practices were normalised.
Heritage Acquisition
We briefly covered aspects of this topic on our Being Connected course. Exploring themes of abusive practices which had been passed through a lineage. Behaviours which had been so normalised for many generations.
Thus leaving the next generation completely unaware of the impacts these practices and behaviours were actually having on their own wellbeing.
For this reason I began exploring alternative ways of releasing and shifting energy throughout a body which was not consciously aware of the blockage.
It was fundamental to all of the practices that a period of acknowledgment was embedded. That we could use short emotive practices to help individuals make the connections to the language of their body. At their own time. In their own individual way.
I did not want to use movement which automatically induced an emotional release without a client being aware of why the emotional blockage was present.
Awareness
This is when I was introduced to the Mana movement. During a week of CPD I explored some of the practices myself, connecting the breath and the body.
In the same way that I embedded the Alexander technique into my theatrical practices over 20 years ago, I began using one of the Mana movement practices within my medication group to begin to connect the breath and the body for participants regardless of their level of experience, or their conscious awareness of their own energetical blockages, stored trauma, or environmental influences.
This soon became part of the initial sequence for physical connection and inner communication.
Inner communication is the foundation of the work for the Being Connected course.
The Body Speaks
The connection to the body was fundamental for the exploration of how we are communicating with the inner self, through the three gateways.
Or more importantly, how the inner self is communicating with us.
The Inner self.
The Outer self.
The created self.
All explored through a connection to the inner creator.
The authentic you.
It was not about ‘teaching’ people practices but guiding them to ‘learn their practice’ from within.
From the only teacher there is… The one who resides within the earth body.
